Job Description

The Legal Assistant provides administrative support to the Corporation’s legal function. The Legal Assistant conducts research, drafts documents, process loan registration and provides exceptional customer service. Responsible for organising and maintaining all legal documents kept on-site.

 

Application package must include the following:

 

  • Letter of Application
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Copy of most recent qualification
  • Three (3) Letters of Recommendation (no older than six months) – two must be professional references, one of which must be from a previous employer.
  • Copy of Social Security Card

 

 

Please note that the successful candidate will be required to provide a Police Report as part of the Background Check

 

  • Draft and review legal documents for new loans, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Conduct land title searches and verify property ownership details.
  • Facilitate loan clients in executing legal documents and explaining key clauses.
  • Register legal documents with relevant authorities, including the Lands Registry and Belize Company Registry.
  • Maintain and update records of registered securities, ensuring proper documentation and safekeeping.
  • Assist in processing loan repayment finalizations and mortgage cancellations.
  • Monitor and renew Bills of Sale to ensure compliance.
  • Provide support in verifying legal fees and issuing receipts for legal documentation.

An Associate’s Degree in Business Administration or related field

  • At least wo years related work experience

 

  • Superior communication skills – proficient in English Language
  • Knowledge of the various Registries in Belize and legal searches
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to be thorough and pay attention to detail
  • Ability to juggle multiple activities and work under pressure
  • Demonstrate professional approach and presence
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
  • Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality and ethical behavior
